About this picture: Ida Salomon Faubert, born in Port-Au-Prince on Febuary 14, 1882, is the daughter of Lysius Salomon, an ex-haitian president.
Ida was six when the family was exiled to France.
Around 1903, she returned to Haiti and married Andre Faubert.
Part of the haute society, she embarked in a literary journey.
As a member of the La Ronde generation, Ida became the first Haitian female to have published a poem in Haiti Litteraire et scientifique under her own name. In 1913, she received a prize from l'Universit des Annales for Pierre Loti, one of her works.
Despite his literary and social success, Ida's liberal views and her independence run counter to the conservative ideals of the Haitian elite.
Most of Ida's poems were published in 1939 by Rene Debresse Editions.
And she won the literary Jacques Normand de la Soci t des Gens Lettr's prize for this publication.

In 1959, she published Sous le Soleil Caraibe which depicts life under the sun in Haiti.
Ida died in Port-Au-Prince in 1969 and is considered as a great name in the history of female literature.
